Uganda Vanilla Industry: Past, Present and Future Perspectives

Chariton is a Consultant for Catholic Relief Services (CRS) on Vanilla and the Ag. ED of the Association of Vanilla Exporters of Uganda (VANEX). He an astute international marketing expert with over 15 years’ experience in  facilitating value chain development and linking exporters and smallholder farmers to Global Sustainable Agricultural Markets, including North America, Europe, Japan, China, Middle East and Africa.

With an educational background in Agricultural Economics and Business Administration, he has a diversity of knowledge, skills and experiences spanning Agribusiness, marketing, project management, value chain development, institutional development, to say the least.

Chariton has managed multi-stakeholder projects and spent an incredible amount of time working closely with exporters, farmers’ cooperatives and resource-poor farmers, while passionately creating sustainable linkages with Global buyers of agricultural products, mostly Organic, Fair-trade, Utz and other environmentally-friendly products. He has also consulted for both local and international organizations and supported investors to establish Export-oriented Agribusinesses in Uganda.
